
Meet the Coaches

Coach Milan
Coach Milan grew up in Belgrade, Serbia playing basketball for club teams that produced numerous NBA level players as well as a first foreign NBA coach. He played college basketball for Wagner College where he is still Top 10 All Time career scorer and career 3pt percentage shooter. While starting every single possible game of his 4 year career at Wagner he earned 3 Academic All American honors and NEC Scholar Athlete of the Year. In 2011 he was inducted into Wagner College Basketball Hall of Fame.
Over the past 15 years Coach Milan has been coaching basketball at all levels from pre-K to high school. He has been a per-annual fixture as Blessed Sacrament girls and boys varsity coach. He had also helped with Moore Catholic and St. Peters basketball programs as JV assistant coach.Over 8 AAU seasons, he has coached the JV girls basketball team as well as a number of boys teams, including taking the 14U team to AAU Nationals in Orlando. During the day, coach Milan is technology leader for a startup in the HR technology space.He is happy to join Stingrays family and continue to contribute with player development in any way possible.

Coach Scalisi
Coach Paul served as CYO Coach and Basketball Board Member from 2011-2020. In addition Coach Paul was a part of the Fastbreak Basketball Camp from 2012-2014. He is currently coaching 2 teams, one of them is a 7th grade basketball travel team and the other is our 16U Stingray Team!

Coach Passalacqua
Coach Anthony is the President and 10U boys coach. Coach Anthony started off as a player within the Stingray Organization. He was the 1st Stingray to go on to play at the Division I Collegiate Level (Wagner College). Coach Anthony later transferred from Wagner to Stevens Institute of Technology, where he broke all of the shooting records at the school.
This is Coach Anthony’s 13th season as a head coach of the Stingrays. He’s taken teams to the Regional tournaments and the Nationals in Orlando. Anthony is also the founder of Shootin’ School Basketball, Staten Island Premiere Basketball Instruction Program, co-founder of Because We Can Sports, which specializes in beginner level sports instruction, and co-founder of JumpShotz, Staten Island’s newest and only state-of-the-art Basketball facility.

Coach Guerriero
Cathy Guerriero is a coach and a member of the Board of Trustees for the Staten Island Stingrays, focusing mostly on the “Stingrays’ in School” program and the “Stingrays’ Serve” program. She also coaches Girls CYO at St. Teresa’s parish on Staten Island.
Dr. Guerriero and her three sisters (Clare, Dorothy and Cindy Lou) were all 1000-point scorers at Curtis High School, and all two-sport elite athletes in both hoops and softball. Cathy went to Wagner College on a Division I, full-scholarship for basketball, and also played softball for four years as well. At Curtis, she graduated from the International Baccalaureate degree program, while grabbing All-City, All-State and All-Borough All-Star honors two years’ running, winning the prestigious Varsity Club Award her senior year, given to the top graduating scholar-athlete on Staten Island.
Presently, Dr. Guerriero is a faculty member at Teachers’ College, Columbia University, a position she has held for twenty-three years. She teaches graduate students in American Politics of Education and New York Politics of Education. For the better part of the last decade, she was the President of two NYC Catholic High Schools. She and her daughter Annarose currently reside in Staten Island, and are both proud Stingrays.
